Professional Boundaries
Scope of Practice
A CPMW credential recognizes training in the named discipline; it does not expand legal authority beyond applicable law.
General rule
Graduates should provide only services for which they are appropriately trained and legally permitted. Certification does not by itself authorize medical diagnosis, psychotherapy, prescribing, licensed massage therapy, medical nutrition therapy, or another regulated healthcare profession.
Referral
Practitioners should recognize red flags and encourage appropriately qualified professional care when a client's needs exceed their scope.
